Child Protection Policy


CLUB POLICY

Children up to 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Older children, with written permission from parent, may attend if the nominated member is present to supervise them.

Parents are fully responsible for children coming to and returning from the flying sites.

Club members should not be on their own with children.

Parents should be given written details of our policy.

Club members should be informed of how to protect themselves and children.

As appropriate we will get CRB clearance for members.


The Policy was agreed at the Club 2006 AGM .

It is based on information provided by the BMFA in the following documents..

Procedures and Guidelines on the Promotion of welfare of Children and Vulnerable Adults in Model Flying. Edition 2003

BMFA letter dated 1st. December 2005 “Important Information Relating to Your Insurance”.

Ensure that your Club has a policy for the promotion of welfare of children.
Ensure that, as far as is possible, those working with children are suitable to do so.
Ensure that parents, carers and club members know how to voice their concerns.
Ensure that children know how to voice their concerns.

ADVICE TO CLUB MEMBERS
Do not spend excessive amounts of time alone with children.
Do not take children alone on car journeys.
Do not take children alone to your home.
Do not engage in horseplay or sexually provocative games.
Do not permit inappropriate touching.
Do not permit the use of inappropriate language or sexual comments.
Do not ignore any allegations that a child makes.
Do not do things of a personal nature that a children can do for themselves..

NOTICE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

We do not provide a child minding service.

The care of your child at flying sites is your responsibility.

Club members will give you advice on safety.

You and your child must comply with all reasonable requests.
