Lleyn Model Aero Club

Any permanent or temporary measures which may limit how we may fly due to circumstances which have arisen.

Dead Air Space

The area of ground above which for safety reasons no aircraft may fly. It will include the Pilots’ Box, Pits area, caravan, car park and access path from the gate.

Markers

High visibility disks or flags attached to the fences.

South West

The wind is blowing from the caravan directly towards the take off strip.

“A” certificate

The BMFA recommended standard for safe solo flying. (It does not have to be in the category being flown).

Pilot’s Box

The area where pilots will stand together while flying.

flight line

The area where aircraft will normally take off and land.

busy times

Any period when there are more than the few regular pilots flying or when several spectators are present.

On the slopes if there are many walkers about.

Safety Marshal

Pilots specifically asked to not fly for a period. Instead they will advise flyers, spectators or the public of flight patterns and safe areas.

restrained

Secured so that they cannot move forward when the engine is started or running.

edge of and pointing out from the pits

Positioned so that a broken or loosened propeller will not fly towards other pilots or helpers.

down wind end

Down wind end so that aircraft will take off away from the other pilots.

mixed model types

Trainers, aerobatic, 3D, rotary wing etc.

“slope of the day”

To be decided by the Club contact. Most applicable when we have visitors.
